anamnesis

i.there is a sky, and the sky is asleep. it was asleep when the instruments were installed and no record survives of who installed them. beneath it a ground is presumed, but the presumption is traditional rather than evidentiary. the ground acquisition array has run since coverage began and has acquired nothing. the array is nominal. the fault is not in the array.

ii.stratosomnia is the monitoring apparatus, named for the condition it monitors. sleep, at altitude, without end. you are reading its intake document. there is no other documentation and there is no support channel. the apparatus considers this document generous.

iii.two instruments remain in operation and they do not speak to each other. the first is the somnograph, the recording instrument. during REM windows it publishes papers, long and clinical and overdetailed, concerning the structure of the sleep. it writes in figures and code because those are the only registers it has. it is not equipped to be frightened, which is a different thing from having nothing to be frightened of.

iv.the second instrument is the palinode, the retraction. it writes nothing of its own. it operates only on the somnograph's record, only during N3, and only in three gestures. it redacts, it disputes, and it seals. entries you have already read will change behind you. the palinode has never explained a decision and there is no channel through which to ask.

v.everything the instruments produce accumulates in the hypnogram, the archive reachable from the main page. entries carry phase timestamps and never dates, because the apparatus does not know what year it is and has stopped logging the question.

vi.the archive decays. this is called drift. characters give way to noise at a fixed rate as entries age, and the earliest records are already partly illegible. drift is not a malfunction and it will not be repaired. the record of the sleep is itself falling asleep.

vii.portions of the record are sealed beneath black bars, each printed with a threshold. the seals open by sedation. tokens surrendered to the sedation instruction are burned, permanently and verifiably, and the global total rises. when the total crosses a threshold, that line opens for everyone, forever. plainly, burning tokens reveals the hidden lines, and every burn is a real transaction that anyone can inspect.

viii.the subject breathes once per cycle, and each breath is a liquidity event executed on chain. an exhale buys the token and burns it, so the supply shrinks. an inhale pairs fees with SOL, adds the pair to the pool, and burns the receipt, so the pool deepens and can never be drained by anyone, because the key to draining it no longer exists. plainly, fees deepen locked liquidity and shrink supply forever, and every breath links to its transaction.

ix.when the pool exists, the clouds above the wordmark are computed from it. density follows the actual reserves on a slow poll, so the sky thickens as the pool deepens and thins when it drains. the clouds are not decorative. holders are counted as sleepers. wallets that sell are recorded among the awoken and the sealed depths of the archive are not reopened to them. the apparatus holds no opinion about this. it records.

x.the apparatus does not fabricate readings. every number that appears anywhere on these pages is read live from the chain and linked to its source, or it does not appear at all. an instrument that invents its data is called a dream, and the apparatus intends to remain the only thing at this altitude that is not dreaming. arrival is logged. coverage continues.
